ScienceFest 2023: FIS and FIR will reveal the roots of science /21.6./

Explore the roots of science at this year’s ScienceFest 2023, a unique outdoor science event for the whole family. The Faculty of Informatics and Statistics and the Faculty of International Relations of Prague University of Economics and Business will once again join the programme. Already on 21 June, from 8:30 to 19:30, the premises of Prague’s Vítězné náměstí and the adjacent Technical Street will be transformed into a fun science laboratory.

This year’s theme Roots of Science promises an engaging exploration of the connections between data, business and science. What are we unintentionally revealing about ourselves online? Representatives from FIS will show how to handle personal data wisely. FIR will reveal the evolution of thinking about fruits and vegetables with blemishes, as well as the benefits of introducing the metric system for business and the importance of knowing brands.

FIR will be represented by Ing. Veronika Mokrejšová, Ph.D., Ing. Mgr. Tomáš Sadílek, Ph.D., Ing. Jiří Zeman, Ph.D. and Ing. Alena Filipová, Ph.D. from the Department of International Business with three topics:

• Discover the Roots of Senseless Waste.
• When marketing goes deep: Are company logos properly ingrained in you? Check in our test and win!
• Roots of measurement and measurement roots: What metrics were used before and how are they measured today? And how does it relate to business?

“Let’s talk about how it could be that there are only straight vegetables in the supermarket anymore, and how the crooked ones are now making their way back in. We’ll compete for prizes with logo recognition and we’ll also look at ancient metrics and the benefits of harmonisation for business development.”

ScienceFest, the largest outdoor popular science event in the country and a joint project of universities, academic departments and leisure institutions, has been promoting a passion for science among all generations since 2011.
