Successful Business Relationship with a Chinese Supplier – Lecture by Tereza Schluifelder

On November 11, 2021, within the course 2OP531 Trade and Business in China, the Department of International Business was pleased to host an online lecture by Ms. Tereza Schluifelder, the Senior Purchasing Manager Private Label Food at Zooplus (sourcing mainly from Asia, Canada).

After her graduation at the Prague University of Economics and Business, Faculty of International Relations (major:  International Trade, minor: Chinese Studies) Tereza completed an eight-month internship in China, Shanghai at Škoda Auto. Her further work experience is bound with Germany and purchasing with the largest players in the industry: Zalando, Mytheresa, Zooplus.

The lecture focused on the selection of a suitable supplier (manufacturer) and the process of establishing and maintaining a high quality business relationship. The lecture included the main possibilities of establishing contacts with suppliers and the key specifics of individual phases of negotiations. The topic was approached with the help of specific practical examples including the issues of concept of MianZi (face) and GuanXi (relations).

The course 2OP531 Trade and Business in China  is a compulsory course of the minor specialization Chinese Studies and is also offered as an optional course to all master students at the Prague University of Economics and Business. Seminars are taught in English in culturally mixed teams of students working together on a term project.
