Current Trends and Risks within Sea Freight by Petr Dařílek within the course International Business Operations
On April 12th, 2022, within the course 2MO302 International Business Operations, the Department of International Business was pleased to host a workshop on “Current developments and risks in sea freight” by Petr Dařílek, Managing Director at Delta International Cargo s.r.o..
During the workshop, our guest introduced logistics systems behind container handling at ports to students and touched upon the current container crisis and the reasons for sharply increasing prices in the last years. In the next part, Petr Dařílek pointed out the imbalances between stakeholders and the causes of their positions. Students then discussed topics of sustainability, legal issues, and labour market situation in the shipping industry in the Q&A session.
Petr Dařílek holds over 20 years of experience in the international shipping industry, mostly focusing on containerised cargo. Delta International Cargo is an established freight forwarding company, able to arrange solutions in FCL sea shipping, LCL sea shipping, air freight, and international road traffic. Their team operates from the Prague Václav Havel Airport.
Petr Dařílek among others commented as follows:

Some less knowledgeable companies choose our competition because they do not like that we tell them the truth and mention all potential problems that can arise.”
2MO302 International Business Operations is a practically oriented compulsory course for students of the Bachelor programme – International Business, guaranteed by doc. Ing. Alexej Sato, CSc. Students cover all topics relevant to an international contract for sale of goods (price, subject of sale, payment terms, delivery terms, transport mode, customs clearance, insurance etc.) and also discover the role of a trade company as a middleman in international business.
