Innovation Week at KMP Full of Experts and Experience
In the 7th week of the semester (27 March – 2 April 2023), Innovation Week took place for the second time at VŠE aiming at connecting acquired knowledge with practice and introducing new opportunities in addition to the traditional forms of teaching. Similarly to the last semester, also during this week, students had the chance to choose from a myriad of exciting events, workshops, and lectures organized by KMP and other departments.
The innovation week was very successful, with corporate partners and students alike appreciating the opportunities to connect academia and corporate practice. Below you can find the overview of the individual events accompanied by photos.
Students attended the lectures:
- by Petr Dařílek, Director of Delta Cargo International, s.r.o., on the topic of international sea container transport.
- The expert lecture by ČSOB on derivatives trading followed by a competition to solve a case study,
- the interactive lecture followed by a discussion on “How to Understand Chinese Business Culture – Practical Experience”,
- and last but not least, lectures on “How to unleash innovation in any team”.
Practically oriented workshops:
- GEORGE, BRAND & SUSTAINABILITY: Workshop with Česká Spořitelna in English.Workshop connected with an excursion.
- Experience the Advertising World of Kantar in English.
- Václav Stárek, a senior researcher at NielsenIQ, led a workshop on “Data talks, who translates?” aimed at presenting the possibilities of using data in business.
- A representative of the HR department of Penny Market s.r.o. Hana Dostálová, Olga Falbr, and Lucie Nováková organized an interactive seminar in the Czech language, in which they guided students through the recruitment/selection process.
- A seminar in English “How to prepare for the Job Interview” was also held on the topic of preparation for the admission procedure.
- The “Assessment Centre” seminar showed students how to prepare for this form of the selection process.
- Workshop with Plzeňský Prazdroj in the course International Marketing Communication.
- Seminar “Introduction to Data Analysis for Theses” on how to properly design your research and write the practical part of a bachelor’s or master’s thesis.
- Students could try coaching on their own.
- Or they could join the seminar called “Neuro-Linguistic Programming and its use in Coaching and Self-Development” and gain a basic understanding of how our brain works.
- There have also been “Consulting Sessions of Term Projects” organized by individual teachers as part of currently running courses.
Apart from lectures and workshops, students also participated in field trips:
- Visit to the TATIANA boutique and a meeting with fashion designer Tatiana Kovarikova,
- Visit to the first zero-waste hypermarket Albert in Nové Butovice.
- As part of the 2MO253 course, students visited the Czech National Bank and its two expositions “Behind the Currency” and “People and Money”.
- Excursion to Exxon Mobil was also organized.
