FoodCIRCUS – Food Waste – Art & Science 2025
The Department of International Relations is pleased to share that on September 4, 2025, Vysoká škola báňská – Technická univerzita Ostrava organized the Art & Science 2025, public festival also for pupils and students.
Tomáš Sadílek from Department of International Business, Prague University of Economics and Business, together with Lucie Jezerska from ENET VŠB-TUO and Veronika Sassmanová – from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering VŠB-TUO presented continuous results from the foodCIRCUS project about food waste monitoring among Czech kindergartens and primary schools.
Visitors learned basic facts about food waste in school canteens and learned how to change their behaviour to reduce this waste. VŠB-TUO showed its stand with the results of ongoing research on the pelletization of food waste from school canteens and its utilisation for fertilising plants in hydroponics.
The VŠB-TUO campus was visited by more than 3,000 visitors, mostly pupils and students from primary and secondary schools involved in the competition about applied science innovations presented by this technical university.
