Lecture by Magdaléna Válková on “Cross-Cultural Business Negotiation Specifics”

On March 4, 2021, within the course Dealing with Chinese Business Counterparts (2OP308), the Department of International Business was pleased to host an online lecture by Ing. Magdaléna Válková, the Country HR Manager PL, CZ & SK and HRBP for Marketing & Sales UA, HU, RO at ABB Power Grids Czech Republic s.r.o.

Magdaléna, who was awarded her master degree at the Prague University of Economics and Business in 2002, can be proud of her very inspiring career within the international environment on management positions in the field of human resources management and development (Colgate-Palmolive CZ & SK, Sitronics, Xerox CZ & SK, G4S, ABB).  Her experience includes also executive positions (ABB Power Grids Czech Republic s.r.o., Bionamic s.r.o. – a company which she founded in 2010). She is also a professional certified coach (Erickson College).

The lecture focused on specifics of communication and negotiation with  foreign business partners/colleagues. During her lecture, which was held in the spirit of sharing and analysing own experience, students had the opportunity to identify key potential “critical moments within cross-cultural communication and cooperation” and discuss how to prepare for and manage such situations or ideally how to prevent such from happening.
