The Founder of Save the Food Anna Strejcová, on Food Wasting in Food Services
On Wednesday, 20th April 2022, the course 2MO446 Food wasting – implications in international business hosted the founder and former director of the non-governmental organization Save the Food, Anna Strejcová. Her presentation contained two main parts: first, the non-governmental organization focused on lowering food-wasting mainly through educational programs, and various happenings were introduced to the students. Second, the results of the current key project of this NNO were presented. This project deals with food wasting in food services; in particular, it tries to improve conditions for the donation of cooked food from the school and company canteens to the needy.
Anna Strejcová is one of the founders of the organization Save the Food. In the beginning, she was dealing with communication with journalists and PR as she was studying journalism and media. She became the director of the organization in 2020. Since April 2022, she has been focusing on enhancing her expert knowledge on food-wasting, public affairs, and the development of the project of donation of cooked food.
The course 2MO446 Food wasting – implications in international business presents the issue of food wasting in the context of the current topic of sustainability. International aspects and business orientation are stressed. The lectures prepare future business people for reflecting on this topic in everyday business processes, from logistics and warehousing through HR management and compliance to marketing and finance. Considerable emphasis is also placed on retailer-supplier relationships. The course concludes with the cooperation of business with NGOs.
