Innovation Week: What will the Department of International Business Prepare for You?
During the 7th week of the semester (27 March – 2 April 2023), the Innovation Week will take place already for the second time at the Prague University of Economics and Business (VSE). It aims to connect the acquired students´ knowledge with practice and to introduce new possibilities to traditional forms of teaching. During this week, students have the opportunity to choose from a myriad of exciting events, workshops, and lectures organized by the Department of International Business (KMP) and other departments. Last Innovation Week was very successful, corporate partners and students appreciated all the opportunities to connect academic and corporate environments. And what will the Innovation Week bring us this time at the Department of International Business?
Students can attend plenty of lectures:
- Petr Dařílek, Director of Delta Cargo International, Ltd., will present different situations and risks that can occur in international sea container transport. More information can be found HERE,
- CSOB’s expert lecture on derivatives trading followed by a competition in solving a case study,
- an interactive lecture on “How to Understand Chinese Business Culture – Practical Experience” followed by a discussion, which will cover doing business in a cross-cultural environment, specifically with Chinese partners. Chinese guests will talk about Chinese business culture and share their experiences living and working in the Czech Republic. Registration is required for the event,
- and last but not least, a guided lecture on “How to unleash innovation in any team” during which students will learn about factors that determine innovation and effectiveness in teams that are universal across all cultures. Registration is required for the lecture.
Following practically oriented workshops will take place:
- GEORGE, BRAND & SUSTAINABILITY: Workshop with Česká Spořitelna in English. The workshop is connected to an excursion for which it is necessary to register.
- Experience the Advertising World of Kantar in English. Registration for the event is required.
- Václav Stárek, senior researcher at NielsenIQ, will hold a workshop on “Data talks, who translates?” The workshop will focus on the possibilities of using data in business. The aim will be to show the possible sources of data and how the data can be used to create a marketing strategy and support strategic and tactical decisions. Registration for the workshop is required.
- Representative of the HR department of Penny Market s.r.o. Hana Dostálová, Olga Falbr, Lucie Nováková will organize an interactive seminar in which they will guide students through the recruitment/selection process and focus on the skills that should be strengthened for success. Registration is required for the event. The Event is in the CZECH LANGUAGE ONLY.
- The “Assessment Centre” seminar will show students how to prepare for this form of the selection process. Registration is required for this seminar.
- Workshop with Plzeňský Prazdroj in the course: International Marketing Communication.
- Seminar “Introduction to Data Analysis for Theses” on properly designing your research and writing the practical part of a bachelor’s or master’s thesis.
- Students can try coaching. Registration is required for the event.
- Or join the seminar “Neurolinguistic programming and its use in coaching and self-development” to understand how our brains work. Registration is required for the workshop.
- Last but not least, there will be “Consulting Sessions of Term Projects” organized by individual teachers in the framework of currently running courses.
In addition to lectures and workshops, excursions will be organized:
- Students will have the opportunity to visit the TATIANA boutique, meet fashion designer Tatiana Kovaříková and hear about her inspirations and journey in the fashion industry. More information can be found HERE.
- They will also have the opportunity to visit the first zero-waste store of the Albert hypermarket in Nové Butovice. Students will see how the store combats food waste and how some clever technological gadgets work. More information can be found HERE, registration is required for the excursion.
- As a part of the course 2MO253, students will visit the Czech National Bank and the two expositions: “Exploring the Currency” and “People and Money exhibition in Prague”.
- Registered students will visit Exxon Mobil and take part in a discussion on AI and managerial strategies.
