Master’s study programe student at the AIB CEE scientific conference

Lenka Mikulášová, a master’s study programme student at the Faculty of International Relations, took part in the conference “International Business from “East” to “West”: Global Risks and Opportunities” in Warsaw on July 5 and 6, 2023, which was organized by the Central and Eastern European chapter of the Academy of International Business. During the conference, Lenka Mikulášová presented research in progress regarding trade barriers in trade with third countries. She was invited to participate in this research by the supervisor of her diploma thesis from the Department of International Business. During the spring, she worked on a qualitative survey between companies and will continue during the summer.

Although bachelor’s and master’s students usually do not participate in conferences, thanks to the supportive approach of the management of the Department of International Business and subsequent significant financial support from the Faculty of International Relations (FIR), the student’s participation was made possible.

The AIB CEE conference was attended by approximately 100 speakers and guests. These were mainly representatives of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, but there were also representatives of more distant countries. Thanks to the fact that AIB also held its annual scientific conference in Warsaw this year, which was attended by more than 1,000 participants from all over the world, it was possible to meet many interesting experts from the scientific/research environment at the AIB CEE conference, who would not otherwise have visited the regional section.

The student herself adds the following to her participation: “I thank the University for the opportunity to participate in such a large conference abroad and for the support provided, without which it would not have been possible. It was an amazing life experience for me, which gave me an idea of an academic career and allowed me to meet important people from the research field. The works presented expanded my knowledge, which I gathered during my studies at the University of Economics, as they related to current events in international trade, and I am glad that I could also contribute to the field with my research.”

The Department of International Business continues to welcome applicants  – bachelor’s and master’s students who would be seriously interested in scientific activity. More detailed information can be requested at vit.hincica@vse.cz.
