The BIP “Contemporary Issues in Selected Business Operations” successfully launched!
With a welcome dinner on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024, the Prague University of Economics and Business officially launched its second Blended Intensive Program (BIP). Twenty students and four teachers from three partner universities arrived in Prague to learn about current issues in the business world. In particular, three topics are assessed more in-depth: financial reporting, customs, and international shipping.
Students and teachers met and participated in a networking activity hosted by the “Záležitost” restaurant during the opening evening. The evening was accompanied by the performance of a professional musician, Mr. Oskar Štěrba, who played saxophone.
On Monday, March the 4th, during the morning’s snack hosted by the Department of International Business, the international guests were welcomed by the dean of Faculty of International Relations, doc. Ing. Martina Jiránková, Ph.D. and the Faculty’s vice-dean for international relations and finance, doc. Ing. Josef Taušer, Ph.D. Afterward, the guests went for a two-hour excursion to the Metrans company, where they learned how intermodal cargo is handled in Europe nowadays. Digitization and automation in corporate processes and cargo manipulation and the quest for reducing environmental footprint were analyzed more closely. Mr. Jaroslav Fürst, a long-term dedicated Metrans employee, led the entire excursion. In the afternoon, an expert in international financial reporting, Mr. Vladimír Zdražil, came to the University to give a set of seminars until the evening.
The BIP will last until late Friday and include other seminars and socio-cultural activities.
