2nd year of the BIP “Contemporary Issues in Selected Business Operations” ended

The second year of the Contemporary Issues in Selected Operations Blended Intensive Program, organized by the Department of International Business of the Prague University of Economics and Business, has recently concluded. A total of 15 students from three European universities participated in this short-term Erasmus+ program: the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa (Poland), Varna University of Management (Bulgaria), and “Dimitrie Cantemir” University of Târgu-Mureș (Romania).

This year, students took part in three full-afternoon virtual sessions held between 17th February and early March and also completed an online quiz prior to their arrival in the Czech Republic. On 2nd March 2025, all of the students successfully arrived in Prague. In the evening, students went for a welcome dinner at a classic Czech restaurant in the Žižkov district, where they were treated to a surprise performance by David Strašil, an illusionist specializing in micromagic who gave a 90-minute show with cards and other instruments.

On Monday, March 3rd, Mr. Jaroslav Zelinka, a lifetime expert in customs operations, returned to Prague for the second time to provide students with valuable insights into customs declarations in the European Union and the latest trends in the field.

On Tuesday, March 4th, Mr. Petr Procházka, our collague from the Department of International Business and an experienced business practitioner, conducted a series of seminars on logistics-related documents. Afterwards, students enjoyed a dinner, followed by a bowling session.

On Wednesday, March 5th, Ms. Alžběta Rybáková, a financial expert from Skanska, accepted our invitation and worked with the international students for four hours on financial reporting.

The following day, students travelled to Mělník for a special excursion organized by the Austrian company “Rail Cargo” at a local intermodal terminal. Since the company does not typically offer such excursions, the students had the rare opportunity to visit the terminal, making them among the few people outside the company’s employees to do so. The guides at the terminal were Mr. Petr Nejedlý and Mr. Jiří Vlček.

In the afternoon, the students participated in a social activity and enjoyed a farewell dinner. On Friday, they presented their projects and were awarded certificates of attendance.

During the event, two students from the Faculty of International Relations were helping the international students: Šárka Kořínková and Anastasiia Kachan.
