Visiting the Port of Gdynia – Innovation Week

The Department of International Business has the pleasure of sharing the following news about the organised study trip to Poland, which took place during the innovation week at Prague University of Economics and Business.

On April 8, 2025, 13 students from the Faculty of International Relations, along with an exchange student and their guide from the Department of International Business, embarked on an educational trip to the Tricity in Poland. The journey began at Prague Main Station and aimed to explore local seaports, providing students with practical insights into international trade and port operations.

Despite initial setbacks with the Port of Gdańsk, the group visited the Port of Gdynia on April 9. They were warmly welcomed by the Port of Gdynia Authority, where they received gifts and attended a presentation by Michał Liedtke, a specialist in infrastructure development. The presentation covered the current role of the port, future development plans, and its significance in international trade. Students engaged actively, asking specific questions about port operations and logistics.

The academic portion of the excursion was further enriched by a guided exploration of the port facilities, where students observed cargo handling processes and learned about the challenges and innovations in port management. This hands-on experience provided valuable knowledge and complemented their theoretical studies.

The trip, supported by the Faculty of International Relations and the Department of International Business, also included visits to the Hel Peninsula and a guided city tour, offering a balanced mix of academic learning and cultural experiences. The excursion highlighted the importance of practical exposure in understanding global business dynamics and port infrastructure.
