Dr. Kamila Matysová and Workshop on Integration and Cross-cultural Communication

The Department of International Business is pleased to inform that our colleague Dr Kamila Matysová was invited to hold a workshop focused on the integration of international students and staff and on intercultural communication in higher education.

The workshop, organised within the framework of the HR Excellence in Research (HRS4R) activities at the Faculty of Economics and Administration of Masaryk University, addressed the topic of “Integration without Barriers” and focused on practical approaches to fostering inclusive academic environments. The programme combined expert input with interactive elements and aimed to support universities in strengthening communication, mutual understanding and effective cooperation in increasingly internationalised settings.

During the session on “Integration of International Students and Staff and Intercultural Communication,” Dr. Matysová shared research-based insights and practical recommendations related to expatriation, cultural adaptation, cultural shock and the role of intercultural competencies in academic institutions. The discussion also reflected current challenges associated with the growing diversity of university communities and the need for systematic institutional support.

The workshop was further complemented by the presentation of a recently published methodological handbook focused on integration and intercultural communication in higher education, which provides practical guidance and evidence-based recommendations for academic and administrative staff working with international students and colleagues.

We highly appreciate Dr. Matysová’s active contribution to the professional debate on inclusive and international academic environments and her continued engagement in strengthening intercultural awareness in higher education.
