BIP in Santiago de Compostela

The Department of International Business is pleased to share that on June 1 – June 5, 2026, a four-member group of FMV VŠE students travelled to Spain to participate in the BIP entitled “Regional development, innovation and sustainability: Improving EU citizens wellbeing”.

The entire course was organised by the Spanish Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC) as part of the EUniWell alliance. The program started at the end of May with an introductory online lesson, after which the students moved directly to the picturesque historic city of Santiago de Compostela for a week of intensive teaching.

The program was very diverse and packed with current topics, including innovation systems, sustainability policies, and the involvement of companies in environmental strategies, with lectures delivered by both professors from the visiting USC and by experts from practice and foreign institutions. A great benefit was the excursion on Thursday to the research ecosystem of Galicia, during which the students visited the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CIMUS) and the Galician Supercomputing Center (CESGA). The course concluded with a discussion on the creative workforce and the brain drain phenomenon.

In addition to the lectures, the whole week was mainly about meeting and establishing new contacts with students from all over Europe. The visiting university prepared a great accompanying program for the participants, which included a tour of the historical heritage of USC and informal gatherings. The entire course ended on Friday afternoon with a final evaluation and farewell. Students take away not only a lot of new knowledge from the entire program for their studies, but also great memories and international contacts.
