International Perspectives and Connecting Education with Business Practice
The new semester is just around the corner, and our students are gradually returning from their international study, work and free-time experiences. However, their intercultural journey does not end with their return to Prague – it continues in the classroom at the Faculty of International Relations, Prague University of Economics and Business.
One of the ways we further develop our students’ international competencies is by systematically connecting academic education with business practice. In previous semesters, students had the opportunity to explore real-world issues in international business and negotiations directly with experienced practitioners including:
- Magdalena Štípková (Válková) – on best leadership practices across cultures,
- Ivan Nikl – on working with Vietnamese business partners,
- Klára Vyskočilová, ACC – on team dynamics and collaboration through coaching,
- Petra Ben-Ari – on working with South Korean business partners,
- Ing. Emil Velinov, Ph.D. – on business negotiations with Filipino partners,
- Jan Chmelík – on cooperation across cultures.
These activities formed part of the pilot run of Talent Management at the Faculty of International Relations and the courses International Business Negotiation and Protocol (2IB101/2IB102) delivered by a cross-cultural teaching team comprising Kateřina Chvátalová, Ph.D., Yadira Ixchel Martínez Pantoja, Vadim Semenenko, and Jitka Volfová (supervisor).
The Department of International Business places strong emphasis on combining academic knowledge with practical experience and exposing students to diverse perspectives on international business. Bringing practitioners into the classroom is therefore an important part of our approach to education.
