Workshop to Showcase Circular Strategies for Food Waste, Including School Canteens
The Department of International Business at the Faculty of International Relations, Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE Prague), invites both professionals and the general public to an online workshop entitled “Circular Strategies for Food Waste, Including School Canteens”, which will take place on 23 October 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. as part of the foodCIRCUS project under the Interreg Central Europe programme.
Food waste represents a significant economic, environmental, and societal challenge. The workshop will provide an overview of current approaches and innovative solutions aimed at preventing food waste, promoting its effective utilisation, and supporting the principles of the circular economy.
Participants will gain insights into practical experiences and examples of good practice from the Czech Republic and abroad. Key workshop topics will include:
- rescuing surplus food from schools and other institutions,
- food waste and its broader social implications,
- anaerobic digestion and other food waste treatment options,
- the use of insects in food waste processing,
- examples of successful circular solutions in practice.
The workshop is intended for representatives of schools and school canteens, public administration bodies, non-profit organisations, waste management professionals, and anyone interested in the sustainable management of food resources.
