Mexico’s Cultural Diplomacy: Instruments to Allure and Engage: Yadira Ixchel Martínez Pantoja, PhD

This summer, Dr. Yadira Ixchel Martínez Pantoja presented her research about the cultural diplomacy instruments that Mexico uses to promote culture including film, literature, music, exhibitions, and festivals, in order to build stronger relationships with stakeholders in host countries.

During the “2022 Global Humanities Symposium: Engaging in Cultural Diplomacy” held at the Meridian International Center in Washington DC on July 21, she discussed the ways to foster collaboration, mutual understanding, and change of cultural perceptions, along with the music as an instrument of diplomacy and cultural exchange.

This event brought together scholars, researchers, practitioners, and diplomats with expertise in cultural diplomacy and engagement strategies for foreign publics.  This symposium was supported by the US National Endowment for the Humanities and the US Department of State.

Dr. Yadira Ixchel Martínez Pantoja teaches Principles of Intercultural Negotiation, Business Cultures of the Latin American Nations, and Doing Business in a Globalized Environment.  Her research interests are business diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, corporate social responsibility, nation branding, and sustainable development goals.
