Presentation of the foodCIRCUS Project during Researchers’ Night

The Department of International Business is pleased to share that on 25 September 2026, the international research project foodCIRCUS: Circular Solutions for Keeping Food Waste out of Central Europe’s Schools was presented during Researchers’ Night at the Prague University of Economics and Business.

The project is implemented under the Interreg Central Europe programme and focuses on the issue of food waste in school catering facilities. Its objective is to measure and analyse food waste generated in school and kindergarten canteens and to develop preventive measures aimed at reducing waste, both on the side of catering providers and food consumers.

The project was presented on behalf of the research team from the Department of International Business, Faculty of International Relations, by Jiří Zeman, Associate Professor.

During the subsequent discussion, participants were also introduced to a new research project led by Dr. Veronika Mokrejšová, entitled Food Waste: Consumer–Retailer Interactions. The project is one of six initiatives supported in the first round of the university’s Return Grant Scheme (Návraty VŠE). More information is available in the article Six Return Grant Projects Launched at PUEB.
